I am seeking this info for a friend who's compaq laptop turned off immediately, without any sound or any burning smell. The printer connector had barely touched it. I tried removing the battery and placing it back again, checked the ac adapter and chords... I know the daamage might be beyond repair by me but I am just trying to get some info on what could have happened. So that I could estimate how much it could cost to get repaired, will the warranty cover that or will my friend have to pay out of his pocket.

was the printer on that time.... if yes then it could be a problem of board... and it might cost if it is repairable then i cant say, but if the boards daaged then about 8000-12000 depending on the make and model... but it an also be a small error or burnt which can be easily fixed, try taking it to a service guy and see what turns out.
Can be: battrey failure.
Motherboard Failure.
Or Feature failure(means that conrol Failure)
