Laptop for college

Now, my friend is in a hunt for a laptop which can deliver a decent fps rate for gaming. The budget is strictly 50k max.

Primary purpose will be networked gaming, wireless. The games include MW2, Battlefield 2, PES, FIFA 11, CSSource, TF2 etc.. However he'd like to play some high end games such as NFS HP, Crysis 2 etc..

Somewhere (not a blog) I stumbled onto a laptop, Acer aspire 7750g, with i7,6g,1g(ati),740g config, costing 47800/-. Seems there is no such model available in the shops i tried. So the configuration i made up would be : i5 sandy bridge, 6gb ram, 1gb (6650ATI), 500gb HDD, 802.11n, >14" screen (720p min) and with a history of taking all the heat..

Now, i wouldn't let you worry about the gear, 'cause he have a Logitech gaming combo of a keyboard and mouse.

Please suggest any branded laptop within the range of 50k, and not dell, please.

When searching for laptops build quality should be your primary concern. I have seen amny laptops failing due to design faults leading to overheating and such.

Go for Dell and HP. If some other brand is offering unbeatable VFM then it makes sense to ditch them.

Their official websites will give you a good overview of whats in store.

I have 2 Dell and one HP laptops at different places. Why so much hate for Dell?

Dell in the old days used to be frustrating in terms of support and issues. Now Dell is the best if you ask me!

MV VIP to the MAX
If you can wait for 2 months, AMD Llano based laptops will be available in the Indian market (probably). They are targeting the mainstream market so you might find a better laptop for yourself.

@ico, like i said, 50k is maxed out. Also, i found a younger one, DV6-6016TX which have a ditto config except for being i5 and HD6490M. Its priced around 47500/-

Does it really matter at the levels of change in the graphics card?

@sarath well, no service centers here in my state i believe(kerala), and its a bit over branded too :p

@prashant you are probably right, because inspiron will not play games, we humans do :)

I'd honestly suggest spending extra and getting DV6-6017tx. HD 6770 ftw especially because your friend wants to game.

LOL at ditto configuration except being i5 and HD6490M. You'll get 6017tx for 50k if you press hard for discount. Better if you can get a 12% corporate discount from HP
