I have a Compaq Presario M 2000 laptop, purchased one year 4 months back;however, for the last 7 months whenever the laptop is running on battery the screen is practically dark which makes it very difficult to view.I have tried all tips like totally discharging & recharging, but nothing has helped. The showroom guy says that a particular software related to the battery has gone corrupt, which I have no idea about. The laptop is also not within warranty anymore.
Can anyone please help.Happy New Year.

my cousin also has same Lappy & same problem. its nearly 1.5 years old.

someone help me too regarding this battery issue

the screen is a little darker (than in AC mode), as the lappy is saving battery.

btw this M2000 is the worst lappy i have ever used. whenever i put the AC cord to charge the lappy, while its in use, the lappy RESTARTs showing a BSOD.

this lappy HEATS up pretty soon.

It is normal, screen brightness is automatically set to decrease when the laptop runs on battery for almost all notebooks. You can manually increase the brightness to max once its on battery. If you have problems with low battery, check battery wear level using Notebook Hardware Control (Software)

Increase the screen brightness using the keyboard keys - usually Ctrl+

NHC is a diagnostic software for notebooks to check system hardware and modify some settings. You can check the wear level of the battery using it. After repeated charge-discharge cycles of the laptop batteries over 12-15 months, the wear level is more than 50% and you would notice that the battery life is reduced almost to half or even less. Here is a screenshot of the same.
