LANning PCs

I have eight computers for my firm. How to LAN them so that Internet can be accessed from all of them? What are required and what will be the approx cost for LANning them as such?

1 router
1 8 port switch
lan cables. ..
conect all pc's to switch via straight cables
assign each static ip's

connect switch to router ... connect "WAN/internet" port of router to broadband cable from ISP

cost shouldnt be much at all ....
but i dunno prices so i wont say

i am at the right post. i have a query to make.

my friend has cafe running 5 comps n given me a lan connection which gives me net. he runs the cisco router. now i wanna know is there any firewall on cisco routers (in built one). do i need to install a firewall on my PC?

this question may be related directly to the problem mentioned above. Security aspects of LAN.

there is no inbuilt firewall as such .. buti then agiain there is
its not as strong as enterprise level firewall that is it is not equipped with ASA algorithm as hardware enterprise fw neither does it have antispoofing like software enterprise firewall

but yes it does have basic firewall features. .. and yes is pretty secure when used right ..
a cyber cafe has no need for a separate hardware firewall ..

but it is always a good option to have a consumer level software firewall on ur pc ... such as zone alarm pro
