Lan Help Needed!!!!!!!!!!

Guys i know this is very elementary but still i am unable 2 do it....CAN NE ONE PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE tell me how 2 connect my dektop pc n my laptop via lan..???????????

u can simply do it by a cross cable in this case both pcs must have nic cards, or u can do it thru hub. let us kno wat h/w u have for connecting the two systems.

i hav a d-link DFE 520TX lan card...n the laptop has a 1394 broadcom 440x integrated hp lan card...n im not sure whether my cord i cross over or not...i got it with my router...??? guys im able 2 ping 2 both the comps.......but how can i transfer files n all??

so u connect the BB thru usb. well that patch cable is a straight cable. and if u r not having a hub this cable wont work. get urself a cross cable from the market of desired length and connect it to both pc, make the workgrp same and assign ip adress.

but dude its pinging fine....i set the 2 ips now its pinging perfectly

both of them can ping each other, if yes, then just turn on the file and print sharing.
