Is this OK?

I want a monitor for partly gaming and mostly for applications like 3DS MAX or ADOBE Premier Pro and ADobe photoshop CS 5.

I currently have a Viewsonic VA1703wb.
Is this ok or should i go for a higer resolution one?

If you are looking a monitor for designing and if your budget allows, PA246Q is the best monitor for this purpose. I personally would find 17" obsolete for graphics work. Moreover 8ms response time and contrast ratio of mere 500:1 further compels an upgrade :)

At the end, if you are happy with what you have, you should continue with it. There is no end to technology.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! :( but its way out of my budget! :(
My budget is at the most 10k
the monitor you said is 30k!

get this IPS panel monitor.. Dell U2311H.. its really worth.. the colors and picture quality is amazing from all angles.. :)
