Is SATA III backward compatible

I was just looking for motherboards and came across Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H on its site. It was mentioned that the board has SATA III connectors only [No SATA II]. My query is can this board support our current SATA II generation Harddisks.?

^^ of course you can. its same as PCIe X16. now is 2.0 standard. offers more bandwidth. but can accomodate a 1.0 version with no problem. same in HDDs too. but not in processor & impossible in rams.

my pleasure buddy. Sata 3.0 based HDDs are already available in market. latest one is Samsung F4 320Gb. but performance wise, not much difference. maybe next year it'll be better.
