I have a P4 3.0 ghz ,512MB ram wid intel D915GAV motherboard & 120GB samsung HDD

I have Win XP Pro wid Sp2

the prob is my computer gets overheated & cpu usage gets to 100% soon & reboots again & again

If i run norton check..it goes fine for 15 mins & noise starts coming out & reboots itself , or rip any movies, songs ,or cant watch any movies for not more than 1:30 hrs

both the sides of the cabinet are left open .the room has AC ...but ma comp heats the rooom itself...worse

because of dis i beginning to hate dis Pc

Plz guys help me out

hmmmmm

you need to replace your heatsink and fan and b4 that applly some thermal paste to it also

the problem even could be with the cpu(as it was with mine 1.6ghz) and can create a lot of heat

so i recommend you that
first you check your cpu .replace the hetsink...get thermal paste and then contact the vendor

this seems to be a problem with the cpu itself
otherwise if u r in guarrantyu period get it replaced

yea ... comp gets heated but not so much as he mentions ... maybe ur heat sink is not installed properly .. try to buy a new heat sink for ur processor .. where did u see that the processor is 100% heated

and if you say it reboots does it restart or just reboot on its own ..

Check this first, Right Click "My Computer" and click Properties
In the Advanced Tab, click "Settings" under Startup and Recovery. There is a checkbox saying "Automatically Restart" .. is it enabled?? First check if its truly overheated processor ..

Yes it is enabled i changed it

But the prob is dat it doesn't make ma norton run at all

it stops & "not responding"

If Nortan isnt running, it doesnt seem like overheating and all .. First Disable "Automatically Restart" .. now if system error comes it'll show u a BSOD .. from that i think we can isolate the problem .. as for Nortan try reinstalling it .. maybe some conflicts with some other programs like some Spyware programs which u are running .

He has got a prescott processor... And it really runs hot while the northwood is pretty cool......

If you donot have proper ventilation inside your cabinet even A/C will not help you....

Check for the Following Points:
1. Check your processor heat sink, See whether it has been fixed properly...
2. Check if your processor fan is failing....
3. Tie unecessary loose cables using a tie and make way for cool air to flow....
4. Add Two more fans in such way that one sucks cool air from outside and the other expels hot air....

Do you use any ultra small cabinet???
Hope this solves your problem....

Regards...
