Hi! I'm Manohar. I'm in a confused state whether to buy an ipad mini or a nexus 7. I'm quite a bit gamer and an app lover. My budget is Rs25000/-. Please Help me which one to buy.

Get iPad Mini 3G. Apple is the undisputed leader in this field. Android has more free games, but iOS apps are still much better in terms of design and UI.

I recommend Nexus 7 over iPad Mini as:
- Android has more free apps....most people don't want to spend money on apps & buying an app is not as easy as e-Shopping. My SBI ATM failed in Play Store.
- iTunes.....crap....makes file transfer to Apple devices complex
- No bluetooth file transfer (Used by many n very handy )
- Better UI in Android.....iOS UI is old n boring n not so user friendly as Android 4.2.2(Used a friend's iPhone 3GS with iOS 6)

+1.

iPad mini has pathetic screen resolution and a dated processor.. Also lacks GPS..

OP, you can consider Galaxy Tab 3 8.0..
I'm not exactly sure about the pricing and processor, but the rest appear to be good..

Else go for N7.. IMO the best 7" tablet ever..

Good advice. Why not wait for five years? We'll have a supertab that cooks, cleans and gives you a foot massage while you game.
No offence, but if buying today, get the best in your budget. This round the corner is actually at least three-four months away (mini).

For those complaining about OS design, iOS 7 is coming tomorrow. Wait before you jump the gun.

Hes damn right. If u really wanna buy something, then u'll get it now, rather than dilly-dallying around. There will never be the most VFM or the most technologically advanced thing, something better will keep coming. IMO don't look into the future beyond a couple of weeks(unless its some truly innovative stuff).

Rite now, I can think of the Galaxy Note 8.0 or the Ipad mini(that I'm using myself).
Who knows, the retina ipad mini, when it launches may be out of ur budgets.

The rumored iPad™ mini with Retina display isn't going to be cheap. The iPad mini has a good display and iOS has better apps than Android. If you don't need to be always online, the Wi-Fi only model is the best option.

Just see the poll results.....N7 is better than iPad Mini

^ apps and games are a priority for op

Android has more free apps is a lie, ios has more free apps

For proof check out top 25 Paid games in android store, more than ten of em have dropped to 0 on ios and never to that point on droids

Just did that, Angry birds space, asphalt 6, asphalt 7, cut the rope experiments, fruit ninja, granny smith, riptide gp, ski safari, temple run brave, pvz all have dropped to 0 on ios
So that's 9/25 still not bad. Just because device is cheaper does not mean ecosystem is also cheaper

Android is better for pirates. Legit users should stick to iOS. The experience is much better on tablets. Apple is the undisputed leader in the tablet segment as it has great hardware and more tablet-optimised apps.

Games aside what about productivity apps? Not sure about iOS but Android does have a lot of free productivity and utility apps.

But still no true multitasking.. You can't even use your note taking app side by side your browser/office application on a 9.7" tablet, when the hardware is completely capable of doing it.. That was just an example iOS misses out on a lot of other stuff..

Agreed with the points about Itunes and bluetooth.

Apple really needs to include Bluetooth file transfer, file explorer and drag & drop so that a person may share his own clicked photos to others easliy.

Few of the posts in this thread are misleading and biased.

I'd recommend you to go for iPad Mini. Anorion & Krow have already mentioned why its better.

Let me clarify some things, point wise as posted:

1. Google Play asks for credit cards and AFAIK the standard SBI ATM cards are Maestro cards which are not even supported by Google.

2. Newer versions of iTunes actually work well. No lag and hang issues as older versions. Really helps in keeping tab on which song I have and which I don't.

3. Grossly disagree. IMO iOS UI>>>Android JB UI. Just because Apple support their old customers it doesn't mean UI becomes boring.

Not to mention each iOS device gets updated lot longer than any Android device. Google devices(even Nexus devices) are supported for 18 months whereas iOS device have support for 36 months(3 years). The iPad Mini will remain relevant with software updates in the long run.
