Insurance for expensive Laptops and Mobiles

Rollercoaster

-The BlacKCoaT Operative-
I have just ordered a new Macbook Pro 17" for development purposes.

Since Macbooks are very expensive (Rs 1,35,000), I am worried of theft/lost/damage
and want to get insurance for it. I have never taken out such an insurance so I dont
have much idea about how to proceed and where to get one and how much it will cost.

I also own an iPhone 4 and HTC Desire, a custom built PC, two other laptops and
assorted electronics. But they are not brand new so if I go for them as well then
how the insurance house evaluate the value of these items to calculate premium.

From searching I can tell that this falls under Electronic Equipment Insurance (EEI). I
am a regular ICICI bank customer so I was hoping to get it from them.

I am a freelancer and I dont have ITRs but I do have a PAN card. Will I need anything
else other then the bills to take out insurance?

Does anyone have experience with this and any advice?

Any risks and loopholes I need to be aware of?

Thanks in advance.

isn't AppleCare enough?

Apple - Support - AppleCare - Mac and Apple Display

You have a point regarding theft though.
