Ideal config for new PC needed.URGENT!

I need a good configuration for my new pc.
I will probably use Fedora Core or Ubuntu Feisty Fawn or Windows Vista.
The configuration should be able to run the above three without any hiccups.
It should also be future proof for atleast 1 year.
I have Monitor,Keyboard ,Mouse and SPeaker.
I only need the configuration of the internal parts.
I would also appreciate if some one can tell me the price of the parts and also where i can buy it in Bangalore.

For vista youll need 1GB of RAM.
Go for it.
Purchase it and then we'll talk bout AMD or Intel.

Yeah, 1 GB is minimum, but you may want to go for 2 GB to make it future proof. Of course, you can always add another 1 GB in the future instead...

Are you a gamer? Or, do you do any graphic-intensive work? This will decide the budget for your graphics card... Also, do you need a UPS and is its price to be considered?

Which processor should i go for AMD or INTEL?
Which motherboard?
RAM,HDD,Graphics card,DVD Writer.
My budget is within Rs 30,000.

AMD X2 is your best bet,excellent VFM.

I would suggest,

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ [Brisbane]
Jetway AMD690G based Mobo
2Gb Cheapest DDR2 RAM
Seventeam 500W PSU

That would be an excellent balnced powerful Rig.

All that is mentioned above should cost around 16k
