DDRII vs DDRI

I have read somewhere regd the DDR2 RAMs having higher latency as compared to DDR RAM of now....but maybe in the future as the speed of DDR2 increases(it seems techies are working at it) DDR2 will be unbeatable compared to DDR. But it will take some time I suppose. So better go with DDR I itself, I suppose.
