Hi guys, after my latest purchase, I am thinking of upgrading my old HP Pavillion t630i desktop. Currently its with 80GB HD, 256 MB RAM, Integrated Intel Video card(64MB). And its slow like snail.! Upgrade budget is 10K. I have attached the technical specifications. I am thinking of upgrading 3 things :

1. HDD to 500GB
2. RAM to 2 GB (It supports 184 pin DDR 1 class SDRAM)
3. PCI or AGP graphics card

Brief Specs of current system -
Processor - 2.8HT GHz/800 Intel Pentium4(P) - PGA478
Chipset - Inte 865G
RAM - 256 (400DDR SDRAM) - 184 Pin (pairing not required, 3slots empty)
Video Graphics - Intel Extreme Graphics - 64MB
Expansion slots free - 2 PCI, 1 AGP

Please tell if i need anything else and what products will be compatible. As this system is very old I am sure the veterans will be able to help me!
Thanks in advance

If you are using Windows XP - Format your PC. It will be smooth.

If you are using Window 7/Vista - Switch to XP.

Also defragment your HDD.

Upgrading RAM will make a diff, but not worth the money. DDR1 RAM costs twice the DDR3 RAM. Add 512MB if you can get it second hand.

increasing to 1gb ram will show good improvement. but should not increase ur current screen resolution (1024 is ok for 865). as resolution goes up, the processor load increases and becomes slow. as in my case.

i ve changed hdd, no noticeable change in speed. better stay with current hdd.

regarding new agp card, its seen a lot of 865 boards ve fryed up after using agp cards these days. just google it. getting a new agp card now is really foolish.

upgrading to 1 gb ram is a good thing, anything above 2k ugrade is waste.

sell it off + 10k will get u amd 635, 880 board, and ddr3 2gb ram or more. so why upgrade this one?

Ishu he also has a 10k budget for upgrade + 2-3k by selling will allow him to get a new pc.

But IMO instead of wasting 10k he can save & spend it on another 6870 for CF.
