how to make opera my default browser?

how to make opera 9.02 my default browser?
i have disabled IE 6
opera is my default browser but...
whenever---------
1)i check for updates CCleaner it still opens in IE
2)i check my mail through google talk or yahoo messenger it
opens my email in the stupid IE
3)when i check for updates of FDM it opens in that stupid s****y ..
u know what ill say

so some1 plz get me out of my misery
as i have to copy the link address
close that stupid s****y @#$%^#$&! Internet Explorer
then open it in opera

& how do i make free download manager my default download manager
in opera so that it stops using its own download manager?

ps- & to all IE lovers out there im sorry......

Go to Opera Preferences, in Programs, select all file types as well as protocols...

Still some programs may use IE because they are invoking not the url but the program... In that case, there is no alternative AFAIK...

Regarding the download manager, check out the website of the software to see if there is support for Opera...

PS: If Free Download Manager is the software you are using, it has feature to integrate with Opera... Just check out its options/preferences menus...

Set Custom Configuration and select Opera as default browser.If still IE opens, then disable access to IE in "Set Program Access and Defaults".
