Hello everybody,

I download a lot of movies from the internet but they are generally split over 2 files of 700 MB each. I want a software which could join the 2 .avi files so that I can backup the movie in a single file on a DVD. I am looking for an application which serves the following purposes:

1. It shouldn't be too slow.
2. No loss in picture quality.
3. The video & audio must remain as they were in the original files...No lag must be introduced...
4. Preferable that it shrinks the total size of the 2 combined files...
I tried my hand at A-one video joiner, but after recoding there was an 8-second lag between the video & audio...:(

Could anyone suggest me a GOOD application for the above-mentioned purpose?

Thanks in advance..

If the streams are same already, Virtual dub will do it, Use Direct stream copy option, It will take about 2-3 minutes to join two 700Mb files, I mean it's actually equal to the time to make another copy of the file on your comp. I very often use virtual dub to split/join similar files
It's a direct copy, so no loss at all, no re-encoding is done at all, it's in all aspects equal to copy-paste on your comp.

But it will not change the size a bit, so if 2 files are 700Mb each, the resultant will be exactly 1400Mb, not a bit more, not a bit less.

Virtual dub can sometime fail due to variable bitrate in audio/video among 2 files.

Try "nandub" it works perfact like charm.
