how to install xp pro on acer 4730z

I bought a Acer 4730z. The configuations are as follows:

Intel® Pentium® dual-core mobile processor T3200 (1 MB L2 cache, 2.0 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 35 W), supporting Intel® 64 architecture
Mobile Intel® GL40 Express Chipset

Dual-channel DDR2 SDRAM support
2 GB of DDR2 667 MHz memory

160 GB HDD with sata.

This comes preloaded with linux. That also without GUI. I want to install XP pro on this.
I have slipstreamed windows xp with Intel Matrix storage manager as this was stated to be necessary for installing xp. Everything goes well upto the point when it say "starting windows, it shows a blue screen which gives obscure error messages.

Mine deskop also has a sata HDD, but I was able to load windows xp without problem.

I have scoured the net for any info, nothing seems to be worthwhile.

Can anybody give me some suggestion on how to go about the above?

me 2 having the same prob on compaq laptop.with intel core 2 duo 1.66 ghz,intel 965 chipset and 1 gb with win vista home basic preinstalled.plz anyone help......

I managed to install. I did like this. In bios settings for hard disk I changed from sata to ide. But even after slipstreaming sata drivers in xp, why was I not able to install?

the first two guys :
slipstream sata drivers to ur xp cd and dont change anything in your bios

since you have an original xp
i suggest u download and install xp essentials sp3...
sata drivers included
its the best 'distro' i have used

I slipstreamed sata drivers and made a xp cd and tried without changing bios and error was coming. See my first post.

When i installing there is selection Partition for Installing Windows Xp but when i reach this menu there is no disk drive found for Installing Windows Xp

What can i do.... for this problemmm ?

You are not getting any partition because there is already linux installed on it. But before that make sure that you changed the bios setting to ide instead of sata. Get hold of Ubunutu Live Cd(there is Gparted in it) or Gparted bootable version and format all the partitions into NTFS. Then you install XP. I am sure you will get all the necessary partitions. Moreover did you get all the XP drivers necessary for 4730z?

First try to get XP sata driver for your chipset Mobile Intel® GL40 Express Chipset
*downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_De...All&OSFullName=All Operating Systems&lang=eng

using nlite make XP installaton cd with this sata drivers then check i think it will solve the problem

if you get it then reply me , if you get any error then also reply me
