In my office, we have MTNL BB. Whenever we start the PC, we can browse the net. We run windows server 2000 edition.

In my home I have BSNL BB. I am running Windows Xp Prof sp2. Now I want to have the same facility as above for the internet on my PC. Whenever I start the PC, I should be able to browse the net. Now at present I have to double click the network icon BSNL on my desktop.

Please excuse me for my poor knowledge of technical subject as I am not an IT guy.

If you have a USB based internet conx., then you should change it to ethernet based (router based) connection.

Airtel offered both when I was having it. I preferred the non-USB modem too for the reasons u specified. Try querying them in this regard.

You will have to disable bridging mode in the router, so that when you turn your router on your internet is on, and off when your router is switched off. Please ask your ISP to configure it for you.

Being a security issue, I don't want to disable bridge mode. In the beginning it was in PPPoE. I changed it to bridge mode after reading some tutorials on the net. But in the begining also there was this BSNL icon on my desktop anyway.
