Most of the uploading sites will show you the upload speed.

In most connections like Relaince which i have- 150 kbps U/L FTP or HTTP download speed is 15.6kbps~30kbps. Sometimes it goes as high as 150! My FTP upload speed is 15.6~30 but HTTP upload is near 100 Kbps. I watched my upload when i was uploading a big 65mb file to the www on primeupload.com
