How to change file system

Hi,

I did one mistake, is there any chance to fix this. I have window xp proff (winthout service pack) installed previously in my system. Yesterday, what i did is, i run the window xp proff cd including SP2, , it gives the upgrade option, and i click that. By mistake during installation i selected the ntfs file system, But previously my file system was FAT32. now after installtion, i am not able to open any file. system is very-2 slow. It shows all my previously installed softwares and programs Is there any way to rollback?. I forgot to create restore point and my system restore was off.

Any chance or way to back to fat32 position.

(Just copy all files from it e.g. to other drive, if you do so.) (you have to format the disk)

In WinXP, you can execute following command for your disk you want to format (replace the "z:" to your drive):
"format z: /FS:FAT32"

(from command prompt)

I think you have to format the partition as you are going back from NTFS to FAT 32

Oh.. Is it not possible if i re run the setup and then this time i select fat32 as a partition, so it gives me my old OS back. I wonder, why and how it is converted to ntfs without loosing data during upgrade because it shows all of my programs and files. that's why i want to know without formatting no change to back to previous position.

I am not sure whether NTFS to FAT 32 is possible without data loss. Partition Magic can do this, but you have to buy it. ;)

Wait what other Digitians say. :cool:

Rest atleast move your important file and data to other drive/removable media if a need of format arrives. :idea:

dude he is asking for NTFS to FAT 32... not FAT 32 to NTFS....:D

Still i think the drive must be formatted or get your hands on partition magic ;)
