Hii . I am a frequent downloader of big files using torrent . Now I have a BSNL 500 plan ,ie unlimited from 2 to 8 am . It become [highlight]quite taxing to wake in night ,go to pc ,start it ,wait for link ,then connect ,start the torrent and sleep .[/highlight]
Of course shutdown is not a problem ,but then main thing is to wake up at night .

Is there any software which can Self connect to net ,using a present connection [size=+1]at a desired time [/size],then start the torrent software . I have to only Turn the PC on and Net modem turn on at say between 11:00 to 12:00 pm .In case the pc restart or link gets broken it should be able to reconnect .

P.S. -> ( How can they say 2 to 8 as night unlimited ,it should at least be 9 pm to 9 am,a man need to sleep too )

I have the same plan as you, and my computer does these...

1. Whenever I go to sleep, I hibernate my computer, to save power. But I dont switch off the UPS.
2. It switches on automatically at 01:45 AM
3. Torrent/download manager program starts at 01:50 AM
4. Dataone connection is made at 01:55 AM
5. Downloads start at 02:00 AM
6. Downloads stop at 08:00 AM
7. Computer shuts down at 08:15 AM for downloads to get verified in case of big files etc.
8. Someone in my family turn off the UPS at 8:30 AM

Some tweaks I have done...
1. Dataone tries to establish connection every five minutes. Even if it disconnects, it can connect automatically soon.
2. If comp restarts, schedules continue automatically.

The softwares I use are :

1. Flashget from www.amazesoft.com for http/ftp downloads
2. uTorrent from www.utorrent.com for bittorrent
Activate and configure scheduler in both above.
3. System Scheduler from www.splinterware for various scheduling
4. Auto PowerOn & ShutDown from www.lifsoft.com for waking from hibernate and shutting down

Hey How can a computer restart from hibernation ,you have to press power key as hibernation save the state of system . How can you schedule it to restart ,
Now i have vista with hibernation disabled ( to save space ) ,what should i do .Power saving is not in my agenda ,but still it helps the country ,so is anything extra to bypass hibernation in Vista

4. Auto PowerOn & ShutDown from www.lifsoft.com for waking from hibernate and shutting down

Get the software, it works like any other scheduler. Post if you have any troubles. And BTW, you HAVE to enable Hibernation in order to hibernate. You cant eat your cookies if you dont have them at all, can you? :)

You need to allot your RAM's size in your hard disk somewhere. Shouldnt be hard, its not THAT space consuming.

@roxysmile
Sorry, that was a typo. I'll correct it now, someone switches it off at 8:30, but you get the point dont you? :)

There is a built in utility in windows for connecting PPPOE connections

Code:
rasdial username@dataone password

rasdial /disconnect

the first one for connecting, second for disconnecting. Make two batch files, or write a program which executes them via shell, or anything. I wrote one myself, and I'll be willing to share it if you require it.

@MasterMinds
You dont need special software, rasdial is inbuilt in xp.
And BTW Auto power on and off is for saving power by hibernating, not for connecting to internet.

Do you guys need a detailed tutorial as to how to implement all this? I'll be free tomorrow evening, and I can write one if you need it. I reduced my electricity and telephone bills a LOT with this arrangement, and I got my sleep too, so if it would be useful to you people too, I'll write.
