How safe is browsing through the mobile...???

I regularly use my Moto E398 to browse the net through Opera mini. Sometimes, while checking mails, especially Gmail, it says that the connection is not secure. My doubt is, how secure is browsing thro the mobile..?? If I'm accessing my bank account thro it, is there any danger of my details being viewed by others. 'Coz I feel that phone browsing is a very unconventional way, different from PC browsing..!!
