How long will this config last withour being turned into scrap ?

I am planning to buy following config for my bro for home for general non-gaming, non-high end use rig. Used only for surfing and downloading.

But still I have the question.

AMD Athlon X2 260
Asus M4N64T mobo (does this need GPU or not ?)
500GB HDD
Epro 18.5 LCD with built in speakers
Some SATA DVD RW
Some Epro generic cabinet

The quote I got for all this is 17.4k

So please answer my question. How good is this mobo and does it need separate GPU plus when can this one turn into scrap ?

Plus any other alternative ?

^^That board is outdated. Get Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P instead.
Get some good quality monitor like Dell/BenQ.
Optical Drive - ASUS/HP
Pentium G620 is a better alternative.

BTW saw the config in my signature? It has been serving me for the past 6 years without hiccups.
