how long will motherboard last?

Hi friends, im planning to change my old compaq laptops motherboard since its dead. How much do u think will it last if i only use it to watch movies twice a week for 5-6hrs max per day. Should it last for a couple of years or so. Btw i already have a new laptop this is just for my sister. Thanks.

The motherboards can last anywhere from hours to say like 5-6 years or more. As long as you are not gaming or so, it is not really under stress and will last much longer. A couple of years is very easily achievable. Just take good care of it and hop that you dont get unlucky

Pranav has said the right thing.
But changing the motherboard will cost you a lot and I think its worth it as you can add few extra thousand bucks and get a new laptop.
BTW how much are you paying for a new motherboard?

I wud be paying 13.5k for the new motherboard... Now the reason im doing it is since i got a new dv6165 and the screen colors sux forvwatching movies... My 4 yr old compaq is much better. However if u say getting a new laptop makes sense, then is there any latop with good display within 15-16k?

Movie watching? Get a FullHD external monitor. That will be less than 13.5k I think.

then bro how much will the mobo of my dv6-6121tx with overclocked gpu last??you've scared the hell out of me,!!!!

I cant be sure, but two - four years is typical. But then again its just from what I know from the friends around me... Some have lasted 6 yrs (I think) and still going strong. Another had to get his mobo replaced within a couple of months of purchase. Now 3 yrs, no probs.

Still what makes you overclock a 6770M? its surely damn powerful...
