How do I setup a PDA phone to use orange's GPRS service?

My friend has just got a PDA phone and he's very excited about using it to surf the net. But we are having a hard time getting the GPRS to work with his orange sim. Although setting up the GPRS on a standard nokia handset is very easy, the PDA has a few extra setting that we are not sure about. Also the PDA shows the GPRS connection process as "dialing....". we have already tried the same sim card on a regular nokia handset and the gprs works there. the PDA requires you to select a modem (cellular line, cellular line GPRS etc). Anybody having a PDA pls help us out.
