how do i get past this network prob...?

hey...
my father recently installed Azureus *latest* on his machine in his workplace which is under the central gov.... i asked him to download some HUGE files from bittorrent network...... now the prob is... that he is on a LAN and some router interacts with the NET..... so how to get the files onto the machine... cause the download doesn't start only... it is frozen at 0.0% forever..... so can someone help me with this prob... his workplace network is on the same network as www.niper.ac.in is.....

gotta check if the ports are blocked
azureus uses port 6881-6889
check if they are blocked by using lanportscan
also check what the status globe shows
if im not mistaken it'll be showing RED which means ur not connecting to any peers/trackers which would confirm the suspicion
also check ur firewall status
and also find out if ur ISP is blocking the ports , or ur router is.

Step 1 - Check which ports Azureus uses to connect to the net. Tools>Options>Connection>Incoming TCP listen port

Step 2 - Configure the router to forward these ports. You will need to know the local IP of your dad's PC and the global IP of the router. Next consult the router help file on how to forward ports. Most probably you will use the NAT rule (Network address transalation) on those particular ports.

Step 3 - You might have to configure the local firewall (if any) to open these ports.

Step 2 is the hardest as this is a office comp, most probably the network admin won't allow you mess with the router. You may compromise the security of the network. (In Melbourne, Aus, a council worker lost her job at the Moreland city council when her 11yr old son did something similar. )

Try this with eDonkey first. If it works you will get a "Reachable" message at the bottom (status bar)

If its a workstation at a workplace no wonder the firewall[hardware I assume] in place will have suitable rule set to block p2p connections.
If thats the case then you've at place a sucky admin & ofcourse the freedom
I might as well suggest reading up the companies policies before proceeding.
