How can i convert/burn video's so as to watch on a DVDplayer

Hi
I have all the seasons of Friends,they are DVDrip.
I want to burn them on a DVD so that i can watch them on a DVD player but i am completely clueless how to do so.
Can someone help me?
1)How will i convert the .avi files into .vob?
2)Each episode/video of Friends will have its own set of .vob files,how will i burn all of them onto the DVD,do i need to make them as chapters in the DVD or straight burning will do?
Please give some detailed info or link to it,not just the name of a software because i am a complete noob in this context

to write DVDs but i dont know it able to convert or not
