Help Required in Laptop Selection....

Hi Friends,
I am planning to buy a new laptop. After going through many posts in this forum & keeping my needs in mind I have zeroed on below 2 configurations.
I would be using this for Playing movies (Divx, HD etc), to learn Linux (would be installing linux on VMware), Converting DVD's to DivX (occasionally), and other general tasks like Browsing, Playing songs etc.

Please provide your opinion on below configurations....

Please suggest which one would be best for my need. Also if you are aware of any other configuration in the same price range, please suggest the same.

m confused.......both r vry good..d differences r also making me more difficult in suggesting...acer graphics card iz better...more storage,.....but screen iz better in dell studo 15...i think u should go fr dell as also fr awareness...

wat d warantty for acer's laptop???n also dell's

i think u should also go to sites givin info abt these

u get a much better graphics card and its cheaper so i'd suggest Acer Aspire 5740G

Regarding warranty..... Acer comes with 1 year international travelers warranty (excluding charger & adapter). While Dell comes with 1 year limited warranty & free support.

In many other posts I have read that in 15.6" screen having Full HD resolution might not be helpful (because of toooooo small font size)...

I just wanted to confirm....... can we play Full HD resolution video file on 1366x768 screen resolution using VLC Media Player or some other similar softwares?
