Right off the assembly line
I recently bought LG GSA-H42N external dvd writer for my compaq presario M2000 note book. Since then I've tried to burn dvd's but I couldn't. I found out that burning cd is possible but everytime I burn dvd it shows me some errors like Finalise Disk Failed, Tracking Servo Failure...

I also upgraded firmware but had no success. Please advice what the problem might be and how to rectify it.

Regards.

Try and lower your burn speed. Use good quality media coz 18x is far above what local media can hold(If you are using them that is).

And yeah: Try and use something other than Nero, my friend wasted my 5DVDs with 3500+ and 1GB RAM with NEro, I burned 6DVDs (Local media) with 128MB RAM on K3b. Defragment your Hard Drive regularly.

SONIC is good as unlike Nero it does not force the media to burn at 18x, it reduces the burn speed (to 16x, 8x, 10x) depending on the data available in the buffer.
