Help needed urgent

Dont know what happend

but after shut down of my computer (win xp sp2)

after starting it didn't go after the bios screen

i thought to reinstall the os

but when i went into its installation process it showed me c: is damaged and even i cannot format it

i inserted the live linux cd and i ws unable to access the c: but my D: is accessed in both

help me please
both partiions are my ntfs

i cannot install windows xp in c:
because of the drive reported as corrupt ore damaged (even could not format)

Ur harddive may be corrupted.said it to service center.

Try to re-partition ur HDD...

how do i repartition it without formatting ??

the hard disk is not being formatted (c it shows some "damaged or corrupted disk. " "check is the SCSI is proper" but the D: is working

i am using knoppix live cd at present

Attach ur HDD with nother computer and boot using other computer's hard disk and in this way u can create or delete partitions..
