help me plz!!!

i changed from the conventional landline to tata indicom and reliance mobile for surfing net..... all is fine and faster but the prob is that now i cant get connected to my friends directly as i used to get connected using the hyperterminal....
can anyone suggest a way out or a software.... i dont want to try ftp or internet for this ... if possible direct connection

i think its a firewall problem mayb..or i think maybe reliance dont support this...there r some broadbands n isps who dont allow to do such activity over the internet could well be the cause..

it doesnt seem to be a firewall prob... coz the reliance mobile dials the fed number but then after dialling a message comes that data service not available .
