HELP ME OUT

I have p4,2.8Ghz with HT, 512 Ram, Windows XP
Whenever I try to install some games or softwares a screen similar to command prompt pops up with a title "g:\setup.exe"
After a second the screen vanishes and nothing happens. If I try installing again the same screen appears and vanishes in 1 second.
How do I get rid of this problem. Please Help Me...

does tht happen with all the programs
ie not only games , but also other software???

do u have an A/V installed or a firewall?

seems like the execution of the .exe files has been disabled !!!

Ya. I can't install games like Max Payne 2 & softwares like Oracle 9i.
please help me...

there seems to be a prob with the windows installer

try installing the latest windows installer s/w

if tht does not install then, check if the DEP has been turned ON

even if tht doesnt help,

go for format and install a fresh OS !!!

there is certnly problem with windows installer
i way i know 2 correct this problem is to repair reinstall
just back up your my document folder and do repair reinstall of os (no other data wil be lost other than my document folder in this THEORITCLY so back up all important data)
