Hi everyone,
My dad just allowed me 40 k to buy my dream rig. I have been waiting for this for so long... Gonna buy on 20th of Jan.
I am gonna use this system for all sort of stuffs: watching movies, games, study and what not. The budget is also somewhat flexible.
Did lots of research on what to buy on net and otherwise but to say the least I am pretty confused!
Still I have drafted to buy some components but about others I am still clueless!
Here is the list:

* Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz @ 8k
* EVGA 9600GT 512MB DDR3 @ 7k
* Transcend 3x1GB 800mhz @ 0.6kx3=1.8k
* Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB @ 3.2k
* Motherboard ??? @ ???
* 19" monitor ??? @ ???
* SMPS ??? @ ???
* Cabinet ??? @ ???
* Liteon/Asus ??? Dvd rw @ ???
* Altec Lensing BXR1121 @1050

Feel free to change any component, I am open to all sort of advices.Try to mention the prices for your recommended components.
:):):):):)Thanks a lot in advance:):):):):)

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R
Cabinet - Coolermaster Elite 334
SMPS - Corsair VX450W or Coolermaster Extreme 500W(cheaper)
19'' monitor - Dell SE198WFP

You might wanna change the graphics card as this motherboard supports ATI CrossFire.. to HD4670..

And like everyone says wait for Phenom II or Intel price cuts..

amitash

Intel OCer
^Yup wait for price cuts or beg your father for 60k budget to get core i7...thats everyones dream rig (atleast its mine :p)

Well thanks for the advice.:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:
I am not planning to go crossfire even in future so we should drop the idea of crossfire or SLI to save money for better bargains. Try to mention the appx. price of recommended components so I could keep to the budget.

Whats the buzz about price cuts??? And what about Phenom II???
How long will I have to wait? And what should I expect???

I can get it to 45k at most.

To get a proper i7 config.. we need atleast 70k I guess.. and at 80k there's Dell Studio XPS desktop which is worth 95k or more..

@ashish, if you wish to go for buying the rig on 20th for sure then go and do a price check now, before you think of anything.
get Palit 9600GT sonic than 6.5K
a bigger 22 inch screen than 19 inch like Benq 2200HD 12.5K (less than 13.5K I suppose)
for processor instead of E8400 get E7300, more than 3K saved, this will give you to get other better components also
mobo SMPS cabinet as spidy said.

E7300 - 5.8K
E8400 - 8.9K
mobo you decide
Keboard + mouse combo = .7K
get a SATA than IDE burner if possible Asus/LG/Samsung/Sony/Lite-On - choose on basis of price and availability, managin SATA burner in cabinet becomes easier than IDE and also they are better in performance

HDD Segate 500GB with 32MB buffer in 3.2K which is 7200.11 series
And u would need an UPS too.

samsung SH223F is good choice for a burner

@spidy I said I am not looking for a mobo with SLI! A cheaper one will do.

@acewin Is 22" Benq 2200HD @12.5K a decent performer???

About the Dvd rw I surely like to mention that I am fed up with bad performance and low reliability of LG and Samsung. I would shed extra to get a better drive. Priority is reading scratched discs. Thats why I thought about Liteon and Asus. What say you?

Wondering if E7300 be a bit too slow for 40k pc?

Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB @ 3.2k is done for sure.

And sure I need an UPS!

@zyberboy I am completely new to overclocking. Will I need a special mobo to overclock? Is it very risky?

Its not risky at all as most newbies believe...To REALLY fry your computer you have to provide insane voltages like 1.6v+ or something...even then intels protection would kick in and downclock your procy....So with a little common sense and fiddling around with very few settings in the BIOS you can get an e7300 to 3.4Ghz on stock.

And about the price cuts, anandtech.com sais its got "reliable" sources which confirm that intel are going to bring the q9450 and q9550 price down like hell to compete with the recently launched phenom2's...however as price cuts take a long time to reach india you would be better off waiting for a month and getting phenom2 + 790gx + HD4850 aka the dragon platform.

afaik u wont get any full HD monitor in 10k.min is 13.5k.

also u need to add a gfx card to ur config as P6T doesnt ahv onboard gfx.

Thanks for the tip mate.

I'll probably wait for a month or so......maybe prices too will come down and Mobos might offer a few more options.

1 question: are MSI X58 mobos still giving Bios trouble?

Thanks spidy333, amitash, hellgate, acewin, hellgate , topgear & zyberboy for your valuable advices.

I forgot, I also need a wifi adapter. Which one should I go for if my priority is good reception even at low signal strength? I am open to both PCI and USB devices. Any idea?

Till yet you have helped me to figure out the following configuration:

C2D e7300--------------------------Rs. 5500
MSI P45 Neo F---------------------Rs. 5500
2x 2GB DDR2 800Mhz Ram----Rs. 2300
Palit HD 4850-----------------------Rs. 9500
KB+Mouse Logitech---------------Rs. 700
Altec Lensing BXR1121-----------Rs. 1250
Samsung DVD RW-----------------Rs. 1050
Seagate 500GB 32MB Buffer----Rs. 3000
19'' monitor - Dell SE198WFP----Rs. 9000
Zebronics Bijli W/O PSU------------Rs. 1100
Cabinet - Coolermaster Elite 334-Rs. 2000
Wireless adapter ???---------------------???
Ups-------------???---------------------------???
--------------------------------------------------------
SUM------------------------------------Rs. 40,900

Any suggestions for change in this configuration?

^Zebronics Bijli and Coolermaster Elite 334 both are cabinets.. select one among them and you need to buy a psu or else the generic psu will spoil everything...
CM Extreme 600w @ 3.3k or Corsair VX450W @ 3.9k

For wireless adapter go for Dlink one, you should get one around 1000 (PCI one).. Our college is totally wi-fi and many here buy either Dlink or Netgear.. believe me netgear is junk here.. dlink gets good reception.. If you use Linux then Dlink has native drivers whereas for netgear you need to use ndiswrapper..

Get any ups with the remaining budget.. preferably 650VA..

If you want good reception for a wifi adaptor opt for usb one it will cost you more but gives better performance than PCI wifi cards.

UPS - APC 600VA Rs. 2800-3300
Opt for BenQ HD Monitor
