HELP DVD playing in dvd player but not on computer

help i have a classic vcd problem(where vcd play on player and not on PC) with DVD
i have a dvd which palys fine on dvd player with all the menus and all
but when i insert the same dvd in my system it dosnt recognaise it at all
and clicking on dvd drive says there is no disk in the drive.
my drive is fine as other dvd (both movies and s/w works fine)
please help me wha to do
my sys configrations is
intel 2.4
OI 865GBF
512 Mb ddr 333 RAM (dual channel)
Samsung DVD drive ( digit offer one)
Samsung CD RW drive
80 gb and 40 GB pata HDD
Ge force MAX 4000 128Mb 8x GFX card (asus)
Asus DVD palyer S/w (its cyber link in Asus Skin)
K Lite Mega Codec Pack

Does it happen only with this particular DVD disk or all DVD disks.

By what i read you seem to have installed the DVD codec.

Try to play other DVD disks in your system, if the same problem occurs then it possibly is a faulty DVD drive, or else the DVD disk is messed up.
