I will give one solution which worked for my friend but i am not sure whether it will work for you.

In the driver cd which came up with the mobo go to the location where the driver for sound card is located copy that folder to a place in your harddisk. Now right click the setup file and go to compatability tab and check the "Run this program in winxp compatability mode".

Thag's all... Try this and please post after that....

Regards... :lol: :lol:

"Run this program in winxp compatability mode"

i dont think u should do that... as win2k3 & winXP both r 2k based system so just run the adio driver setup file which u have run in winXP... it should work out...

if not the install the win2003 SP1 & then visit the MS update site... MS will provide one if there need for one...

I checked with MS HCL[Hardware Compatibility List] for Windows 2003 & there are umpteen number of device drivers for Soundmax.

Can you atleast tell us the motherboard model number?

From what I know of & seen till now XP & 2k drivers would/should be ok but Windows 2003 or win2k3 is a different ball game altogether as far as I've experienced.

Supported drivers by the manufacturer for Windows 2003 alone have worked whenever & wherever I've deployed Windows Server 2003.Never did I have to use a XP/2K driver.

As you say it may work or may not but the best thing would be to search for 2k3 drivers from the manufacturer which would not only be safe but also help when it comes to driver problems.

i didnt faced any problem with windows 2003 drivers... where ever i have install this server system.... either the driver of win2k/xp worked out (windows didnt have any worning at time of installing those driver neither any driver were installed forced fully....) or got the driver from windows Update service..... when i went to the manufacturer website saw that the same driver is for win2k, xp, 2k3...

now all my exparince is with fairlly new system or very cheap server system... didnt have any encounter with old systems & a true server system....

so had an idea.... that mostly those drivers r same.....

@digen

I installed win 2003 in my pc.. But the sound card driver gave message that it is not compatible with this os. But when i changed it to winxp compatability mode it went on smoothly... There was no issue at all...
Even my usb modem from tataindicom gave the same message first but after changing the compatability no problem works just fine..

Well I didnt face have the need to use the XP or the 2K driver instead was since anywhere I've setup Windows Server 2003 till now & all the hardware had 2k3 compatible drivers along with it.

@shivaranjan.b
Windows 2003 is also known called sometimes unofficially as win2k3.I said the above since I've seen a couple of 2k3 installations on home systems which have all the fancy hardware like TV Tuner Cards & what not,which doesnt have drivers nor does the manufacturer support that OS.
For christ sake using a server system what else does one expect? XP suits such a audience perfectly.
Expecting hoopla & eye candy from a server OS would be something which the server market wont boast of.
Forgive me everyone if you dont find my rant useful. :)

good post digen.

I will like to add something:
since win2k3 is meant to be run on servers, not on home pcs, so most of the eye-candy + sound server + hardware acceleration + direct 3d (directx) + themes support etc. are all disabled in win2k3 by default.
Though you can enable one or all of those options if you wish to, but it's advisable that you choose the OS according to the need.
Besides, if you noticed carefully, win2k3 always asks a reason for shutdown/reboot and that's also because servers aren't supposed to be shutdown/restarted frequently until unless there's some hardware issue or software maintenance demands one.
If you want all kinda fancy hardware running then I will also recommend Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed.
