So I have been out of the loop from mobile world. Life is happening to me and didn't had time to follow tech.

Changed job and a colleague at the new workplace starts to inquire about my LG G6. I very proudly told him the specs, showed him the phone's beauty, while boasting about how I got this phone for just 33k when it was a flagship phone and all.

Then he shows me his phone, Vivo one, which was equally impressive, with front fingerprint scanner, pop out selfie camera and all. He told me his phone just cost him 30k.

I said ok. But then he dropped this bomb about this phone, which he wanted to buy but couldn't due to flash sale. Samsung M30. I read the specs online. 6.4" screen. Amoled display. Ok. 6 GB RAM. 128 GB space. Hmm. Expandable storage and dual SIM. Alright. 3.5 mm jack. Nice. 5000 mAh battery. Wth.

And then I saw the price. 18k. That was when my mouth dropped. Wt actual f?

When did Samsung dropped this bomb? It's flash sale only and isn't available offline. Is this how they managed to price it so low?

Is this the end of Mi?

Note: I am not a fan of Samsung, but amazed by this model and pricing. What's the catch?

Except for the screen, it isn't worth the attention it is getting. SoC is Exynos 7904 which barely matches SD636. If it was launched an year ago at same price, it would've been a worthy competitor. RN7/Pro are still better phones and above 18k, there is Poco F1 (barring the screen of course).
Also, Samsung probably won't release timely updates/security patches for it, if at all.

What about the screen? Amoled and 1080 x 2340 resolution is bad?

Samsung is targeting the Mid range market now and has complete A-Series lineup till A90.
    Competition is hard from Xiaomi.

now Xiaomi has brought the 48MP camera trend :)

More megapixels still can't beat a Google camera say in an Asus Zenfone.

No, most probably best screen under 25k except other Samsung AMOLED phones.

Yes, online only probably helped with its low price but there are other corners which were cut, like the absence of brightness sensor, plastic body, runs Oreo out of the box but Pie update is incoming & weak SoC (somewhere between S625 & S636 in terms of performance).

If you are awed by M30, check Galaxy A50 at 20k. Better phone for those who want a Samsung device. I'd say not much point in buying M30 at 18k as it has dedicated SD card slot. A50 at 20k gets better cameras, better SoC (similar to S660), Pie & under display fingerprint sensor (its slow though).

Not the end of Xiaomi. RN7P is cheaper while excelling at everything except display & brand value when compared to A50. OS is personal preference (I'd prefer One UI of Samsung), also ultra-wide camera is nice to have.

Compare Samsung Galaxy A50 vs. Samsung Galaxy M30 vs. Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro - GSMArena.com

Like seriously, IR is a relic from the early 2000s.
