Before I go ahead I will tell you guys my predicament.
My Sennheiser CX180 died last month. My Logitech Headset is also dying a slow death at the time of writing. I dont have speakers. So my audio experience is slowly diminishing.
I decided to get a pair of circumaural headphones for this reason. However I am confused between two choices
Q1: Should I take a Gaming headset or an Audiophile grade headphone?
Q2: Which one should I take? (including Price is appreciated)
I have been pondering over it for a month whether I should take a gaming headset like the SS Siberia etc or something like a Sennheiser 518 etc.
I am inclined towards the Sennheiser ones. But I am still undecided.
I even considered taking both:
Gaming headset with support for virtual 5.1 or 7.1 USB/Audio Jack
Audiophile stereo headphones
But I soon realised I cant afford both.
OVERVIEW:
TYPE: Circum aural
USAGE: Connected to PC. Music 75% Games 25% [Chat support not required]
May try on ipod, mobile (but will get IEMs soon so not a deciding factor)
BUDGET: INR 5000 upto 8000(maybe)
Criteria: Preferably with low impedence. Thus not requiring an amplifier. Unless quality is drastically improved with an amplifier.
Reliability is most important, followed by sound quality. Neutral or Bassy. Should be comfortable to wear.
Kindly suggest something that is available locally. Online shopping not prefered. Since I reside in Bangalore I believe finding exotic items wont be that much of a trouble.
However you can post a link if you have a good suggestion that is available online.
If I am buying online I would like to be directed to reputed stores with good history.
NOTE: I AM AWARE I HAVE ANOTHER THREAD FOR EARPHONES. HOWEVER THAT IS PURELY FOR IEMS, ESPECIALLY ONES AVAILABLE IN USA. THESE WILL BE BOUGHT LOCALLY AND HAVE DIFFERENT USAGE SCENARIOS. MADE THIS THREAD TO AVOID OVERLAPPING BETWEEN THE IEM AND HEADPHONE DISCUSSION.
