My System configuration: Intel Celeron 2.4 Ghz, Mother Board: Gigabyte Via (Prescot) 8VM533M-RZ VIA P4M266A/P4M533 chipset, RAM 256 DDR, HDD: 8GB, OS: Win XP SP 2.
I would like to upgrade my HDD to 160GB. Can I upgrade it without any hassles? Is it compatible to my MB? I would be grateful to your kind reply.

It will definately support 160 Gb and above PATA hdd. And if you have SATA ports in your MB go for 160GB because it offers good speeds. And if you are going for PATA go for 7.2K rpm instead of 5.4K rpm.

@iinfi

Correct me if i am not correct.
To best of my knowledge 810e does not support over 80gb.
But you use large capacity harddisks by these methods:
1. You may have to flash your Mother board. This usually availiable in the manufactures website.
2. You use the DDO software tools available from the hard disk manufactures website. For this you would have to limit your harddisk capacity to 32gb by setting the jumpers in the hdd. and use the software tools. I think it writes to your mbr.

This should not be problem because my friend uses 160gb pata on his PII 350Mhz and the MB is Intel 440ZX.

The intel 810e mobo can support 160gb if it has and ultra ide controller used for supporting hdds over 137gb of space. u can flash the bios easily by looking into ur mobo's manual
