hav problem related to shut down

I have upgrade my xp home edition with sp2 now my sytem doesn,t shut down properly.the shut down option in start menu doesn't work my system hangs on clicking it.can shut down using ctrl-alt-delete /shutdown but it takes long time to shut down after showing screen windows is shuttin down.HELP! i have 384 MB ram ,2.4 ghz intel ,MSI motherboard system model MS-6714 want to keep sp2

Has this problem started after installing sp2? If yes, then remove it, then try re-installing. Maybe that can fix it. And what do you mean by your system hangs on clicking shutdown? Do you get a blue screen?

In case u r using Antivirus, try shutting down ur AV b4 trying shutdown
