Got bout 100 PC in a LAN with WINDOWS 2000 SERVER.Some of the PCs (WIN 2000 Professional)are getting hanged for no reason.Double clicking on any icon would result in no response although the mouse pointer can be moved around the desktop.No other option but to format it.Using Avast anti-virus,service pack 4,svchost patch,mytob patch.What can be the reason?

How are they networked? A brief on hub and or switch configs would be helpful. Also, unplug these errant comps from your network. Do they still hang?

The computers r connected through switches.Haven't seen yet disconnecting them from the network but need them to be in the network thats the trouble.
