Sorry guys to open up a new post, but its real confusion out there, i even went to XFX site with all sort of models available as GT, LE etc and even DDR, DDRIII, i am totally confused about if to go for 6600 or 6800.

The models i went through where

XFX GeForce 6800 GT 256MB DDR3 AGP
XFX GeForce 6800 128MB DDR AGP
XFX GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3 AGP
XFX GeForce 6600 GT 256MB TV DUAL DVI AGP

Can anyone please let me know which one is the BEST and PRICES for the same i need AGP CARDS ONLY. i what is the dual dvi etc. I just need it to connect to my monitor thats all i dont need tv output or LCD screen, i already have a new lg 17" inch monitor.

Your help is appriciated. Thank-you

No pain....No gain
U should have posted in the Hardware Section or could have searched, these questions has already been answered. But anyways........

By sheer performance point of view XFX 6800GT 256MB AGP is the best of the list but is cost around 19-20K.

Next best is 6600GT 128MB since it give excellent performance and value for money. There is not much difference in performance between 6600GT 128MB AND 256MB . Going for 6800 would also be waste of money since you can get almost similar performance with 6600GT 128MB DDR3.
And XFX 6600GT 128MB DDR3 AGP costs around 10-11K. Maybe less also.

As for what is DVI?
DVI: Short for Digital Visual Interface, a digital interface standard created by the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG) to convert analog signals into digital signals to accommodate both analog and digital monitors. Data is transmitted using the transition minimized differential signaling (TMDS) protocol, providing a digital signal from the PC's graphics subsystem to the display. The standard specifies a single plug and connector that encompass both the new digital and legacy VGA interfaces, as well as a digital-only plug connector. DVI handles bandwidths in excess of 160 MHz and thus supports UXGA and HDTV with a single set of links. Higher resolutions can be supported with a dual set of links.

DVI is used to connect highend monitor/tv such as LCD, PLASMA etc. But don't have to worry since all of the card manufacturer provide DVI to VGA converter in the package if the card doesn't have a VGA output.

Well keeping in mind the upcoming games ... i'd suggest you to go for a 6800GT .... it should last much longer than the 6600GT .....

the 6600 has been out for about 2 months now. I would suggest atleast a FX 6800 (you didn't mention ur budget). if possible get a Geforce 7800 GT for around 23k.

and remember these wise words of my friend mohit :
"ATi don't mess with the best or you'll be screwed like the rest"

Nvidia Rulezz!!! :)

Dear Friends,

Thanks for all the support and hey the 6800 wud have ben out of my budget abd hey i cant even dream of 7800 atleast for now :) . BTW i had been to Lamington road and got the 6600GT 128 mm DDR3 for 9400/- Powersafe 500 watts SMPS for 2600 and now wil get a VIP G100 for i guess 2,300 without the SMPS, not sure what price its for without SMPS.

The 6600GT is great tho. It really rocks atleast for me :)

BTw got the card and PSU from computer culture shop at lamington, nice guy over there.

I got the XFX Geforce 6600GT DDR3 DUAL DVI TV PCI-E 256MB for 12K frm lamington road on saturday. Got FarCry DVD bundled with it. Nice thing I hadnt played FarCry yet. Bght FEAR, COD2 too. They run as smooth as DOS games :D

GTA SA would $uck on the FX5200 but not now. Also the experience while playing DOOM3 was fantastic. Lights, shadows and smoke !!!

FEAR auto detection actually set all parameters to high. Isnt that great. Always have played games on low settings.

Also got P4 3Ghz , Intel 945 MOBO and 1GB DDR2 RAM. No heating issues after 8-12 hours of FEAR GTA DOOM non stop 8)

Still AMD would have been better but P4 was an obligation.
