Graphics card heat

Hi
I removed my nvidia GeForce GTS 240 graphics cards thermal paste to reapply it but now I'm scared that I didn't apply it properly so I want some software that I can boot into so that I can monitor my gpu temperature without actually booting into my os because if I do then I risk overheating my graphics card.

All answers are appreciated
Thanks in advance

If you think you did not properly apply TiM then just remove the old layer and apply a fresh layer properly. Anyway, just by booting into your OS the gpu won't be get damaged as OS will not use the gpu to 100%. So just boot into the OS and watch out the gpus idle temp. If it looks ok then launch a game and play it for 30 - 45 mins and monitor the temp again. If everything looks normal then you won't even need to reapply TiM again.

I would agree with topgear, install the card, get GPU-Z monitor the idle and load temps and then take a call on whether or not to re apply the thermal paste.
