Google Web Accelerator: Duz it do the job?

I installed Google Web Accelerator. I used it for 4-5 hours. But nothing seemed to be accelerated. No time was saved. I grew impatient and uninstalled it. I am using Firefox.
I am eager to know if it has worked for anyone.

It doesn't not Cache SSL based website Websites. Although it is optmized for 512K and above Internet speed.
