Hi All ,
i have a small issue :
1 i installed the free version of avg anti-virus .
2 after the expiry , i uninstalled it.
3 i had the Google Desktop Search (GDS) installed and was being started at start up
4 due to some reasons i removed it from the start-up (using msconfig)
5 after that whenever i try to start GDS an exception is raised stating that
Grisoft(AVG) firewall AFU over MSAFD TCP/IP
Grisoft(AVG) firewall AFU over MSAFD UDP/IP
Grisoft(AVG) firewall AFU over MSAFD RAW/IP
Grisoft(AVG) firewall AFU over RSVP UDP Service provider
Grisoft(AVG) firewall AFU over RSVP TCP Service provider
%SystemRoot%\system32\mswsock.dll
%SystemRoot%\system32\rsvpsp.dll

It is asking me to unistall the S/W (which i have already done)

If all else fails then try running GDS with the flag / restorelastwinsock

or the flag /restorefirstwinsock

Question :

It is clear case that AVG has not uninstalled properly and has its entries on my TCP/IP services
which GDS is not able top override .

1 how do uninstall AVG COMPLETELY !!
2 How do i enable these above said flags ??

I will be extremely happy if anyone is able to help me .

Did you say avg expired? How?
As for the question, try this -
Uninstall Google desktop search. Reboot. Install avg again. Reboot. Uninstall it immediately after boot. Reboot immediately. Now install gds again.

As for enabling the flag, it's simple. I assume you have a shortcut to gds in your desktop. Right click it, choose properties.
If your gds path is c:\program files\google desktop search\gds.exe,
then edit that. Put in this - "c:\program files\google desktop search\gds.exe" /restorelastwinsock including the quotations.
But its best to try remove avg completely from your system so you don't have any issues in the future.

avg av is freeware. avg av+fw is trialware. i think u were using the latter and it expired. right ?

anywaydo what anandrf suggests. but do the avg uninstallation in safe mode. afterwards use ccleaner from www.ccleaner.com to clear ur residual pc junk.
