There are lots of vendors in Kolkata, Supreme, Eastern Logica, Computer World, Saboo.

Get EVGA 8600GT, XFX 8600GT gets fired up too much.
Get Corsair RAM 1GB or 2GB.
Get Point Of View or Cooler Master 500Watt or more SMPS.
Get MSI P35 NEO or ASUS P5N E. ABiT IP35-E is also good, many forum members are using it, even me.

No pain....No gain
BTW, whats your budget?

E8400 is a good choice.

EVGA/XFX 750i mobo would help a lot in overclocking/stablity. Else get ABiT IP35-E with your eyes closed.

8600GT doesn't make sense right now, since 9600gt/gs etc are out. Reliable brands EVGA, XFX, Leadtek, Palit (maybe the cheapest)

For ram 2GB in dual channel is the minimum what you should get. Good brands are CORSAIR, Kingston, Transcend etc........ basically most of the value series modules from different brands would give more or less same performance.

As for PSU CM460 that you have suggested is good enough for your system but the most sort out PSU right now is CORSAIR VX450W..........a bit costly around 3.5k but you can have peace of mind.

Here are few of the vendors list *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showpost.php?p=440978&postcount=192 if you need details for any specific brands then pm me.

someone here in the forum(infact many may be! :D ) refers XFX 8600 GT as "Electric Stove Edition" :lol: that itself shows the gamers idea of XFX 8600 et al.

E8400 is a good choice... I bought one for Rs. 8300 from Technokrat two weeks back
For RAM, I suggest atleast CORSAIR or if possible OCZ (depending on budget)
CM460 is ok but if possible go for CORSAIR VX450
And eVGA is the best in graphics else you can also go for MSI

For everything except the proccy visit Tirupati and ask for Mr. Rajesh. Make sure to haggle a bit but not too much ;-)

my opinion

1> my budget is 20K (+ idhar udhar)
2> For mobo Abit IP35E ok. But wat about MSI P35 Neo Combo F, ASUS P5K SE. I dont want 2 PCIe x16 slots. I am not looking for SLI nor Crossfire setup.
3> Frankly i am not a gamer. But yes games do fascinate me and I want to play a few sometimes like NFS. So need a setup dat can take dat load. And i think if it can run these games then it can easily run HD content. Plus i cant afford more than 6-7K for dis baby. So 8600 chipset required. About EVGA i'm not sure. I trust Digit Test Centre. Its y i pay for the mag.
4> i cant afford 3.5K for a PSU. i dont hav the spirit to make my parents tax heavily 4 my wishes. So at the very most i can afford 2K (i am refereing to ITWares prices)
5> RAM =>> Transcend used to be a thing for the elite. But as its products have reached rock-bottom prices like others i hav begun to doubt the quality. I think they are being manufactured here without quality control. Corsair seems to hav taken dat place. But again i cant afford more than 2K (as per current prices). If need be i'll run XP and forget abt Vista(greedy memory hog)

The cheapest 8600gt would be from Mercury (yes u heard it right), it comes for about 3k + tax. This is the card *www.mercury-pc.com/product-detail.php?link=p-graphiccard&subtitle=Graphic Card&productid=779

For PSU CM460 would cost within 2k including taxes.

We all do but keep your eyes open...visit other tech forums and read reviews for any product before you purchase. :smile:

Its better if you do not rely on a single source but try all possible sources of information ;)

i cant afford 3.5K for a PSU. i dont hav the spirit to make my parents tax heavily 4 my wishes.

We all passed through this phase bro so we know what it feels like. BTW, CM460 is not an inferior product so feel happy :p but do keep in mind that PSU is often a neglected but vital PC component.

My regular source in Kolkata have their own brand of 450W PSU which I've found to be quite good. The build quality is good and it has a large quiet fan. I've installed something like 40-50 of them over the past 3 years and none of them has failed. I'm using one right now to run an AMD X2 4800+, 1.5GB RAM, a 7600GT card, three hard disks and two optical drives.

Price is about 1K for a retail box and less for the OEM version. I won't give the exact price because I'm a regular customer and I'm not sure what price they will quote for others.

I don't want to give details of my suppliers in public here to avoid the possibility of swamping them with a lot of silly requests and enquiries. If you're interested, PM me with your email address.

@ Michael
Just take a look at the link I have given u (vendors details). There u will find M.D. Computers, u can get leadtek gfx card price from them or contact Rashi Peripherals for xfx cards. Just call them, if you need further assistance in finding a particular product we are here to help you.

We can only give you suggestion n approx price, you'll have to decide what you want to get and bargain the prices with the vendors.

So, you know your budget and average price of different components, then just check it yourself, where's the confusion.

As per your budget:
E8400 ->8.2k
Abit IP35e ->5k
Corsair/Kinston module 2gb DDR2 667 -> 1.9k
8600gt/9600gt/gso as per the price -> 5k-10k
CM460/VX450W -> 2-3.2k

These are rough estimate and does cross your budget.

THANKS A TON bro.
The Confusion - which <specific model name> gfx card to buy <asus/leadtek/palit/etc.> I mean after i buy i dont want to discover dat the card has heating issues or dis issue and dat issue. I've had enough xprience wid my Prescott P4 HT
Mobo - i'll go for Abit IP35-E alright
Wont my RAM module come in a 800MHz flavour?
GFX Card budget strictly is 5-7K

Thanks guys. Do post back. All of u

DDR2 comes in 533/667/800/1066 etc. flavours (yummy) :D The higher the frequency the costly it is.

All brands like leadtek/xfx/palit are good.

i say once i had to go to G C Avenue to repair my cell-phone. There i noticed 4 d first time these numerous computer peripherals shops. I went and asked in all of them nearby for an intel C2D E8400 and wanted to know whether they stocked A-bit products. Surprisingly nobody was able to understand and some said they did not stock A-bit products. Only 1 named Planet computers seemed to have that from their simple "yes". But i left that shop after standing their indifference for 20 minutes.
I hope i dont face the same thing with ur suggestion - M D Computers
