There has been clarification since this story broke. Adobe has not released the CS2 software for free. Instead, it has cancelled its CS2 license management servers, so for those with existing licenses it is now offering downloads that do not require contact with the licensing servers. This service is only going to be available for those with existing Adobe CS2 licenses, which will be verified when creating the Adobe account to download the software.

But you can still access the page and download these and install with the serial provided. Maybe they are turning a blind eye to it and get some users to try their products and maybe produce some potential customers.

Unfortunately, Adobe has shut down the activation servers.

Adobe has disabled the activation server for CS2 products, including Acrobat 7, because of a technical issue. These products were released more than seven years ago, do not run on many modern operating systems, and are no longer supported.

Adobe strongly advises against running unsupported and outdated software. The serial numbers below should only be used by customers who legitimately purchased CS2 or Acrobat 7 and need to maintain their current use of these products.

Can't say whether they are still allowing the activation through their activation servers using the provided keys.

The CS2 installers on Adobe's site don't need activation servers to get activated. They can be activated offline. Adobe took down activation servers for CS2 back in Dec but then legit users complained that they can no longer reinstall and activate their copies of CS2. So Adobe made these installers which can be activated without the need of activation servers, ie. offline.

I too wanted a good image editing software but avoided Photoshop till now cause it was way beyond my budget. Was using GIMP and Paint.NET (for casual editing).

Has anyone tried using this? After the CreativeSuiteCS2Disc1.exe is run it extracts files to C:\Creative Suite CS2 and then runs setup.exe automatically which crashes after a few seconds of displaying a splash screen which says 'initializing adobe cs2'. Even if i manually run C:\Creative Suite CS2\setup.exe it crashes the same way.

hey guys i just download Photoshop CS2 but while installation it asks for User name, Organisation, serial nos. where can i get those when i download i didnt got anything.
