Hi

I am planning on building a gaming PC for around 30 k (excluding monitor, speakers). Can you please suggest the best config for this?

I got some rough prices from a vendor:

Intel C2D 2.66 Ghz - 6k
M/B DG 31 PR - 3.5k
4 GB RAM 800 MHz DDR 2 - 3.5k
500 GB Seagate - 3.5 k
DVD RW - LG - 1.2k
Cooler Master Cabinet 360 W - 3.5k
KB+Mouse (Logitech) - .9k
Nvidia 9600 Gfx Card 1 GB - 8.9k

Please let me know if the suggested config and the prices are ok. I want the best possible gaming rig within 30k. I can compromise a bit on the HDD size. And plz suggest a Mobo which can support atleast 6GB RAM.

Thanks

Thanks a lot! This is just what I was looking for :)

I have some more questions:

1. I am planning on using my 26" Samsung LCD TV as the monitor for this CPU (as this is mainly for gaming)
Any issues with that?

2. I heard there are some issues with Samsung Optical drives (tray problems). Any other alternate suggestions?

3. Which is the UPS that I should buy for this PC?

4. I have wifi at my house, so I was thinking of some wifi card for this PC. Which one should I go for (with price)?

5. What is the difference between Palit HD 4850 and Palit HD 4850 Sonic versions? I heard that the HD 4850 card heats up a lot. Can this be a problem in summer in Indian conditions (with the Zebronics Bijli cabinet)? No AC/Cooler at home and I live in Bhopal (external temperature 48 degrees).

1) No, there will not be any problem while using 26" LCD TV, as you are using HD4850.
2) SAMSUNG DVD/RW works great, than any other optical drive, Sony Drives have reading problems,i.e some of them do not read DVD, LG Comes with tray issues so left are SAMSUNG and Lite-On, SAMSUNG is best as per my view, So alternative to you is Lite-On

1. That monitor should work just fine with the above config.

2. There was. But now samsung drives are very good. I'm also using one ( Model -
SH-S223F ). If you want another - Go with LG or Asus.

3. For the above config I would recomend APC 800VA Rs. 5300
You can go with 650VA also. Rs. 3200

4. There are plenty of comapnies. Go with Linksys, Dlink or Netgear.
They should cost Rs. 1100-1300.

5. All new Palit cards comes with custom coolers so heating should not be issue.
They runs very cool around 44-48C.

Sonic edition cards are factory overclocked but non sonic edition cards run @ their default clock speed. Also sonic edition has slightly better cooler.
