1) What is your budget? (INR or USD) 80000INR

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer? >= 15" screen

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook? Gaming only.

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eyeing for ?

core i5/i7
GPU atleast 950M, minimum 2GB, DDR3 or better

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

Dislike : None in particular.

6) Anything else you would like to say?

Not looking to import so laptops with local sellers will be better. Online purchase from flipkart, amazon, ebay.
Screen resolution ( 768p (HD) / 900p / 1080p (Full HD) )
Battery back up ( normal (3-4hrs) / extended (5-7hrs) )
Purchase place ( Online (eg - flipkart, infibeam) / Local / Abroad (do mention the country) )

I have a list of choices but any other options would be fine.

1. Asus GL552JX-CN009H / DM087D (which ever is available)

(rest of the list is made according to availability in flipkart)

2. ASUS R510JX-DM230T 90NB08XJ-M03330
3. Asus GL552JX Rog Series CN316T 90NB07Z1-M04500
4. Lenovo Ideapad Y Series Y50-70 59-445136
5. MSI Leopard Pro GP Series GP62 6QE
6. Lenovo Y50 70 i7 Y Series Y50 70 20378
7. DELL Inspiron 7000 7559 Y567501HIN9
8. HP 14-j008TX (N1W05PA)

I would recommend Dell 7559 from Flipkart... Yeah they are importing it & selling it here, but don't worry, Dell has international warranty. So no issues there + it has 960M with good cooling solutions (3 exhausts).

The i5 version is sufficient as it is a quad core i5 (performance similar to 3rd gen quad core i7). It lacks hyper threading though. Also it has great battery life. It might be a bit bulky but still okay compared to other gaming laptops. It has white backlit keyboard (so can be used for official use too, if needed without everyone starting at your laptop)

I would keep Asus GL552JX CN316T as 2nd option. Lenovo Y50 at 85k has a IPS screen, so it can also be considered as it has 960M over 950M in Asus.

Whatever you buy don't hesitate to buy additional extended warranty (gaming laptops seems to get problems in long run due to more stressful usage)

Another important thing to consider is that Asus GL552JX & Dell 7559 have an additional M2 ssd slot

Don't get below 960M in the budget.
following this and anupam_pb the list is down to 2.

DELL Inspiron 7000 7559 and Lenovo Y Series Y50 70 20378. Any deciding factor to consider? (i5 vs i7, ssd slot)
Also ASUS ROG GL552JX-DM291D,*this guy is doing rounds of ebay for ~60k mark, so is it worth going for 960M for +20k price?

That Asus GL552JX in eBay has seller warranty & as the primary function is gaming, it would be better to have official warranty so that you can extend it

Also the Dell one has been officially launched in India. Check Dell India website. It's listed as New Inspiron 7000 & costs 83k for i5, 93k for i7... Better to buy from Dell instead of Flipkart

Dell with i5 has a great battery life compared to even its i7 counterpart. Also the SSD slot & better cooling sweetens the deal compared to Y50 (IPS).

Y50 (TN display) is available for 60k in eBay with GTX960M

Killer $800 Gaming Laptop from... DELL??? Inspiron 7559 - YouTub

Too bad Dell doesnt have extended warranty offers. Anyways, it has a really good cooling system for its size and price. Check the first video link i posted.

Sadly, it costs Rs82,990 (US$1220) while those Muricans can get it for Rs54,000 (US$800)
Sucks to be Indian right??
As a consolation, Murica's neighbour Canada doesnt have it too good either.
It costs around CAN$ 1900/Rs92,000 out there (US$1350).
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL  . So that means its cheaper in India than it is in Canada. Oh the joys of people's suffering!!!

I too saw Dell Inspiron 7000 up on display some time back and it was promising(That price tag though). Dell Inspiron 7000 it is then.

mikael_schiffer Got it from flipkart 35k.

Update : From Dell official website backlight keyboard is not available, confirmed from customer care. They can get it imported but that will add ~6k to the price +import duty and taxes ~6k more, so that's a bummer.
Available in Flipkart though no extra charges :D.
