4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: Asus, MSI, Dell
b. Dislike: Toshiba

5) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook? = gaming, programming, graphics

6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both? = both

7) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games? = yes, mainly latest FPS

8) How many hours of battery life do you need? = 2-3 hrs

9) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK? = buying online is OK.

10) What OS do you prefer? Windows 7

11) What screen resolution(s) would you prefer? = more than or equak to 720p

The most basic alienware model of Alienware M11x is near to your range. It suits most of your needs and can be a good choice for you.

umm...i don't think so...i did some research on my own. Alienware M14x is available for a base price of $1099 and my budget is $1300. M11x is too small. I wanted to know of some other alternatives...maybe from Asus or Msi.

I'll havta choose from the Asus - G53SX-DH71 15.6" LED Notebook - Intel Core i7 i7-2670QM 2.20 GHz - Black - G53SX-DH71 and Alienware - 14" M14X Laptop - 8GB Memory - 750GB Hard Drive - Stealth Black - AM14X-5305SBK a 17.3" laptop will be a tad too big for college. and alienware...just bcuz i've been partial to it since my 10th grade :) Also, will I be expected to face warranty issues if I buy a laptop from the US??

Even Dell is not giving international warranty but you ask them that if they can provide you that if you pay extra bucks to them

HP Envy is really a high end multimedia laptop...i need a dedicated gaming thing. The Asus G53SX is really a bulky laptop. I guess, for me at least, for college, the Alienware would be a better deal.
