Hi guys... i was looking to replace my old beige Logitech keyboard and mouse in favour of something a bit jazzier and perhaps more suited to gaming.

Now, my mom's in the US at the moment and will be there till the 16th and I had been planning to ask her to buy a few choice computer parts from the US.

Cutting a long story short, any of you guys tried the Logitech G5 mouse? I'm thinking of getting it. Any idea how much it goes for in India?

What I'm planning to get is:

Saitek Eclipse II keyboard - *www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000H6AY6M/ref=pd_cp_e_title/002-6448384-6979260?ie=UTF8
Ideazon Fang Gamepad - *www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FRW8KS/sr=8-1/qid=1156659245/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-6448384-6979260?ie=UTF8
Logitech G5 mouse - *www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AY5Y...s_1/002-6448384-6979260?ie=UTF8&s=electronics

the Fang I'll probably get.. the Saitek is still just a thought... any suggestions from you guys as to good Gaming Input devices will be welcome.

btw, i'm mainly into FPS with a bit of Auto racing and RTS thrown in.

hmmm... $73.. that is quite a difference... I like the idea of being able to change the weight of the mouse to suit personal preferences and ofcourse the 2000dpi will help as well... might just go for this mouse then.

trust me, i've ordered plenty parts from the US - in my current rig, the 6800gs, corsair 1gb ddr, 460gb worth of hdd and the dvdrw are all parts bought in the States. However this time i decided to limit myself to around $125 worth of parts. had been thinking of getting another gig of ram but decided that it can wait for later.

I see right through you.
I prefer the G7. It's a bit more expensive, but the wirelessness is a big plus. And don't think it's laggy because it's wireless. It goes for $99. As for keyboard, If you really want to game, it's the G5/G15. A bit of overkill, but then again, those programmable combo keys come in handy. I'm still waiting for Microsoft's Ultimate Keyboard though...

Wise Old Owl
Mouse:
Value segment:
MX518-30$

Performance: debatably better but may be not better for all persons
G5-50$

Alternatives:
Razer Dimondback and Copperhead

Keep in mind that logitech mice of these level atleast need to be serviced/RMAd after 1yr. This is not one case but many many.
G15 has many troubles, go to thoseforums
i am not sure how suited a wireless mouse is for gaming.

get non wireless high end stuff.

I don't think I would go with a wireless mouse. Even if there is no delay/lag anymore, I don't think the wirelessness would offer much advantage to me as I'll always be at the comp table whenever I game. Also the hassle of charging the batteries is not something I want.

As far as the MX518 is concerned... if i'm going for that, i might as well pay a bit more for the G5. The only negative point on the G5 could be the loss of one of the thumb buttons as compared to the 518.

The Razor's however pose a problem... They're obviously excellent gaming mice and have a great pedigree. So do I go with them or the Logitech? I don't think there really is a third company to check out.

The problem with this decision is that mice are one thing you NEED to get a feel of to know whether you'll like them. Unfortunately, that won't be possible here in India. Nobody keeps the high end Logitechs in stock and I don't think the Razors are even available in India.

btw, would Logitech India cover warranty for products bought in US?

It's a keyboard still in production. It promises lots of cool (but probably not very functional) features like automated backlighting and good Vista Integration. It's not available yet, and Microsoft has only put a teaser website up, so you can slaver in anticipation :

I'm not too much of a gamer, only a casual one, so I really want wireless, and I'm not going to ask for changing weights and whatnot, so this is the keyboard for me. I'd have liked it to be ergonomic wave form, but you can't have everything...
