When historians in the future will look at the Technological advances of this generation they won't think twice before labelling it "The Age of Simplicity" Just look at the apps You have Word processors like Writer which use only one font. There are plenty of other apps that do only one thing but do it the best way.

Hardware makers have taken a note of this and radically altered the way they designed the products and especially the User Interface (UI). Its no longer the after thought and in some cases they have teamed up with UI professionals to give a better experience to the consumer rather than working on it in-house.

LG electronics for that matter have had a very strong relationship with google. As they say "Google has a very vast knowledge of the user interface". This is helped them to improve their products and reach a wider market of people who are experience addicts. An by-product of this partnership has been the LG Google TV. The TV improves its interface by using a Android software thats built in to provide the users with capability of talking to the TV, using Gestures and even typing on the QWERTY keyboard for that matter. Imagine a Superfast L9 Dual Core Processor on a large HD screen with Android Software built in. The TV is available in 3 Variants [Via LG Electronics] To Take this a bit further LG recently acquired the Palm web OS to make its User Interface even Better and are Planning to Launch the TVs in 2014 [Via LG Press Release]

The Whole issue of Simplifying the user experience and taking the capability of the gadget is no where more actuate than in the Camera Industry. Rather than relying on long text menus and other Unfriendly buttons Nikon has worked on live animations into its newer Cameras. The Nikon D3000 has a guide mode which asks the user what kind of a photo he is looking for and then alters the settings on its own, The user doesn't have to know anything about the Aperture, ISO, or the Shutter speed for instance, the camera itself will take care of it. This change is bringing people closer to more higher level of technology. This is very visible with amatuers using DSLRs to take pictures which till 2 years back would have stuck to Mirrorless point and shoot cameras. Via [Nikon]

Think of it, companies don't really just go into making simple products for the users they are usually forced into by the competition. To name a few: Apple, Samsung, Dropbox Etc
